We're still working to get the bugs out of the code of the S5R2 App (all platforms). The validation is only one of the problems. Currently the code changes almost every day. When this has settled, I intend to make Apps for other platforms, too, that are not the major ones (like Solaris/SPARC, IRIX/MIPS, Linux/PPC etc.).
I just saw the mesage on the front, current analysis is ending.
So I don't think we will see a solaris app for the current run.
Are there any plans for later?
The plans haven't changed with the end of the current run.
When the major bugs of the code has been fixed, I will start making optimized Apps for our major Platforms (Windows, Linux MacOS) and also build Apps for other platforms.
There is at least one major bug left in the current code we are still looking for. Currently more platforms would make debugging rather harder than easier.
Can't wait, my pc is becoming a technological dinosaur every passing day; improved code would be welcome though it won't do much to improve my standing against duos and quads which leave me in the proverbial dust.
Thanks I (unfortunately) remember that quite well.
The thing is which platform do you already now support?
As I said I upgraded the core client to version 5.4.9, and it seems it uses another platform string than before.
Before the upgrade I can't remember seeing this message.
So what will happen as soon as Bernd is able to finish the new Solaris app?
Will it be the platform my client is requesting, or is it the old platform(sorry I don't have the name) which worked with the "Faster all-sky pulsar search" application?
I guess, before a new Sparc Solaris app is released at some point in the future, there will be a beta-test phase for it I guess using the anonymous platform mechanism, where the app is installed manually, so there will be a chance to try it whatever the platform string is.
At least this i what was done in the past.
So I hope I get my platfrom supported as soon as solaris is supported again (in beta with anonymous and prod without anonymous).

I just upgraded to a boinc version 5.4.9 from Stefan Urbat.
Now I get:
Message from server: platform 'sparc64-sun-solaris' not found
Anything I can do aginst this?
(Can you support this platform?)
Thanks

see Bernds post 3 above mine. A solaris app won't be produced until the bug hunting is finally completed.
